Media Collection

Use the Media Collection to put sermons, podcasts, and video's on your website. You can organize the media using Tag Groups

Overview

From here you can see all the views that your media items have received, see how many people are watching your live stream (if you are paying for this extra service), see the most popular media viewed, as well as the most recent uploaded media items.

Items

On the media collections page you can add new media items or edit existing media items by clicking the edit button to the right of any existing media items.

Settings

This section allows you to add a new or edit an existing Tag Group and Podcast Channel.


ITEMS

Add New Media Item

On the media collections page in the top right corner you can click on the "Add Media" button to create a new Media item with digital content. Clicking this blue button will open a new dialog box.

  1. Title - Enter a descriptive title
  2. Add Asset - You may enter multiple assets for the one media Item
    Keep in mind that Asset file formats must be either M4A, MP3, MOV, MP4, M4V, PDF, or EPUB
  3. Short Description - The short description is a one or two sentence description served to people searching for podcasts.
  4. Description - This is a more robust longer desctiption is needed for when someone is wanting more information about your Media Item
  5. Cover Image - An image that can be displayed to generate interest in the Media Item.
  6. Date - The Date and time the Media Item happened.
  7. Presenter(s) | add  - Who or what group is the main focus of the Media Item.
  8. If you create a "Tag Group(s)" or "Podcast Channel(s)" you will have the options to add your Media Items to these options.
    • Tag Group: 
      • Toward the bottom of the media Item, while editing, You will find the drop down boxes for each Tag Group you have created. Select an existing tag in a Tag Group of use its "Add" link to add a new tag to a Tag Group.
    • Podcast Channel:
      • Toward the bottom of the media Item, while editing, designate which Podcast Chanel the Media Item should be broadcasted on. Keep in mind that Asset file formats must be either M4A, MP3, MOV, MP4, M4V, PDF, or EPUB to be added to a podcast.
  9. Click the blue "Save" button to save your work

SETTINGS

Tag Groups

Tag Groups are created and used for the purposes of sorting your media. The sorting can be set up for your visitors on media pages in one of two ways.  You can allow visitors to select and sort the media for themselves this is how media pages are set up by default. The second options is to add a media page and in the Page Setting Column (at the bottom of the "Basic" tab), while adding or editing the page,  select to  a specific tag.

Here is how to add a new Tag Group. 

  1. Go to the Settings option under Media in the dark gray menu on the left side of your website.
  2. Select the Tag Groups icon and then click the blue "Add Group" button in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Enter in the following fields:
    1. Name  - The name for this Tag Group. 
      You will be able to add tags with in this group later either wile add Media Items or by returning to this Tag Group and editing it.
    2. Description (Optional) - this sets a default description for this tag Group. "Media Items" can also have their own descriptions that will be used instead if added.
    3. Cover Image (Optional) - this sets a default image for this tag Group. "Media Items" can also have cover images that will be used instead if added.
    4. Allow Multiple
      - On indicates that you can select multiple tags from with in this group
      - Off will allow you to use one tag from this Tag Group
    5. Is Required:
      - On will require every future "Media Item" use a tag in this Tag Group.
      - Off 
    6. System Type:
       - Custom allows you to define your own Tag Group
      - Series is specifically designed to group a set of sermons on a specific topic together.
  4. Finally, click the blue "Save" button to save your new Tag Group.

Podcasts

A Podcast is regular digital audio files (usually audio only) made available on the Internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device, typically available as a series, new installments of which can be received by subscribers automatically. 

Creating a Podcast Channel:

You will need to start by creating a channel on your website. Here is how to create a Podcast Channel:

  1. Go to the Settings option under Media in the dark gray menu on the left side of your website.
  2. Select the Podcasts icon and then click the blue "Add Podcast" button in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Fill out the fields
    1. Title 
    2. Description
    3. Link - The page of your website where someone can learn more about your media.
    4. Owner | add - This is expected to be the person that is in change of maintaining the Podcast
    5. Language - Select the most common used language
    6. Copyright - I add "2021, XYZ Church"
    7. Category - For the Category I usually select "Religion & Spirituality/Christianity" but if you find a different option that better suites your Podcast, us that instead.
    8. Religion & Spirituality/Christianity
    9. Cover Image  - This is a identifying graphic for the channel that a subscriber sees with each new media post you add.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button to finish creating your podcast channel.

Connect Your Podcast to iTunes:

  1. Go to Media Settings
  2. Select the Podcast icon
  3. Click on the podcast title.
  4. Copy the URL of the page that opens
  5. Go to podcastsconnect.apple.com
  6. Login into your iTunes account
  7. Enter or paste the address of the XML file you copied from your website.
  8. Verify
  9. Submit
